Welcome to the new Oak Knoll Golf Course! It is our goal to give to you, the golfer, the best experience for your investment. We know you demand and deserve it. That is why the golf course is being improved in a number of ways to further enhance your golf experience.

Approximately 20,000 yards of dirt has been moved to many locations. Water drainage canals have been installed to help with winter runoff and overall course drainage. The yardage from the blue tees will extend to approximately 6,800 yards. Projected completion date of the project will be fall of 2004.

The following is a hole by hole breakdown of improvements.

      • Hole #1: The drainage canal that runs approximately 700 yards from the east line of the course to the driving range, cuts in front of the green then heads to the south and west on the south side of the big ash trees on #9. There is also a large mound behind the green that will be a hairy grass mound and landscape bed. Total yardage of hole #1 will stay the same for both the white and blue tees.

      • Hole #2: A large mound behind and to the right of the green will add character and skill to an arrant shot on the approach to #2 green. The blue tee box will be elevated and extended 10 yards.

      • Hole #3: The current par 3 will be changed to a par 4. The approximate yardage of the par 4 will be 420 yards from the blue tees, and 380 yards from the white tees. There will be a large fairway bunker placed on the right side of the fairway and poplar and London plain trees will be planted on the left for this par 4 to play at a slight dog leg left. The green will be a large elevated 6,000 sq. ft green with 2 large greenside bunkers on the right side.

      • Hole #4: The current par 5 will be changed from a par 5 to a par 4 dogleg right. A large fescue mound will be landscaped on the turn dog leg right. Sand traps that guard the hole on both approaches were added this spring. The hole will play 425 yards from the blue tee, and 380 yards from the white tee.

      • Hole #5: A drainage canal is installed between #4 and #5. This will run all the way to the main East West drain and connects to the driving range drainage system. A medium size sage bunker will be constructed at about 245 – 270 yards on the left side of the fairway and the blue tees will be extended to 360 yards and the white tees shall remain the same.

      • Hole #6: A small but deep pothole bunker on the right side of the green. All yardages will remain the same.

      • Hole #7: At over 500 yards this hole is long enough but will demand a straight shot. Trees will be added to the left side of the fairway before and after the water hazard The water hazard will be extended slightly into the fairway and large mounds will be constructed along the fairway on the let side of the green. There is also a drainage ditch that will come into play in between #7 and #9 rough. The blue and white yardages will remain the same.

      • Hole #8: The tees on #8 will be slightly elevated. The green will be completely replaced in the fall of 2003 with a larger green surrounded by bunkers. A drainage ditch along the right side of the green will drain south towards #9 probably will not come into play. The yardage’s for both the white and blue tees shall remain the same.

      • Hole #9: At 493 yards from the whites and about 520 from the blues this hole now will require you to lay up short of the two trees in the fairway. The ditch cuts across the fairway at approximately 270 yards. A new green will be built in the trees on #9 a larger green with large bunker on the left side, some trees will be removed and some added to make this a slight dog leg right. The old #9 green shall be extended towards the clubhouse to create a new practice green. The yardages shall remain the same from the blue and white tees.

      • Hole #10: Some small mounding behind the green will add character. The drainage canal along he east line is approximately 6 feet deep and 18-20 feet across. A new blue tee east of the old #5 and current chipping green. The blues will be played along the right side of #10 this having its own fairway playing approximately 400 yards long and very tight. The white tees should gain approximately 10 yards.

      • Hole #11: The blue tees will be stretched to about 560 yards. The ditch approximately 6 feet deep and 18- 20 feet across will come into play from the whites at about 200 yards and from the blues at about 240 yards. Large mounding behind the green will add character and test the short game. The yardage will increase to approximately 560 yards from the blue tees and the white tees should remain the same.

      • Hole #12: The green will be added to in the summer of 2003. The current green is too small and a lower tier to the left side of the green will be added extending the green to approximately 6000-sq. ft. twice the size of the current green. A greenside bunker on the left will keep balls off the #13 tee box. The tee will be elevated and extended to approximately 240 yards from the blue tees. The white tees should remain the same distance.

      • Hole #13: Starting at the green the pond has been enlarged along the left side and wraps around the backside. The drainage canal runs along the left side of the fairway and cuts in front of the women’s tee. The blue tees will be lengthened to 400 yards and the white tees will be rebuilt and elevated. The fairway will be stripped of sod and elevated slightly to drain into the ditch. Mounding will be place on the right side and a fairway bunker will be added. The ditch will remain open on #13 and 2 bridges will access rough areas. Trees will be planted along the left side rough behind the mounds. The yardages from the blue tees will be extended to about 400 yards and the white tee should remain the same.

      • Hole #14: The white tees will remain the same but the blue tees will be accessed by a land bridge through the pond on #14. The pond on #13 and #14 has been expanded to 4 times its original size. The pond will be both a wet land and a pond. The water hazard comes up to the left front of #14 green and wraps behind the green the cart path now is behind the right side of the green. The brush behind and along the right side of #14 will be thinned out exposing the native ash trees in the rough. You will now hit completely across the water from the blue tees for our most picturesque signature hole.

      • Hole #15: Approximately 40- 50 trees along the right side of the rough will change the look of this hole.

      • Hole #16: Starting with the green it will be enlarged next summer. Adding dirt to the front of the green and sloping to a lower tier. 2 Sand bunkers will be placed on each side of the mounds. The drainage canal now comes into play along the left and right side of the fairway. The blue tees will extend to 610 yards and will be located on the west side of the pond. It will now take a drive of 230 yards to clear the drainage canal from the blue tees. A large elevated double tee will be for both #14 and #16. The white tees will be moved back to 470 yards where the blue tees are currently.

      • Hole #17: The blue tee will be elevated and enlarged gaining only slightly in distance. Behind the green the canal comes into play on your approach shot on the left side and wraps around the green. A large mound has been placed left of the green to keep approach shots from going into the ditch. The yardage should remain the same from the blue and white tees.

      • Hole #18: A new blue tee adding about 20 yards in length to this hole and changing the tee shot angle. The white tees should remain the same.

Women’s tees will all be raised and better defined, some moved slightly to enhance playability.

The driving range will also be under construction. Adding more tee spaces to the east of the main upper tee about 20,000 sq. ft. more practice space will be available for hitting. A sand trap on the east end for t practice will be added and 2 large practice greens with sand traps at the 150 and 180 ranges. These greens will be elevated and sloped for better ball location and visibility. The current range tee enclosure has been put on halt. We were unable to get a permit to continue the overhead structure built 13 years ago because the current structure will not support wind sheer. It is less expensive to tear down the existing structure and start over. Hopefully this can be finished within the next 2 years.

These changes are all designed to help the golf course play more year around, to add character, to force the player to use better shot and club selection enhancing the golfing experience. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to email us or give us a call.
